Transport for the North (TfN) has been formed as part of the strategic response to the changing transport and infrastructure needs of the whole of the North of England. It incorporates the city regions of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield connecting these cities and the wider regional towns and cities across the North of England, to drive better connectivity, economic growth and better opportunity for all. It is crystal clear that “the cities of the North together can be greater than the sum of their parts”. Devolving strategic transport planning powers through STBs via this amendment to the Bill demonstrates the Government’s clear commitment to the Northern Powerhouse and rebalancing the economy outside of London. This role is offered for a Two Year Fixed-Term Contract / Secondment (public sector bodies only) The Transport Policy Officer will support the development of policy approaches across all Transport for the North (TfN) functions to support the organisations evidence base for connectivity across the North. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive policy and strategy capacity, providing input required to meet the needs of TfN and its partners, continually reflecting changing requirements and external context. Key to success in this role is the ability to present to a range of different audiences and manage senior level stakeholder relationships in order to represent the TfN overall transport policy. The successful candidate will have previous experience of supporting transport policy development activities. You will be experienced in analysing information and evidence and making recommendations and of working within a project management framework. In addition you will have experience of effectively communicating research findings to a range of audiences and presenting complex information concisely and to non-technical audiences. |
