Our Public Realm Division ensures that the London Borough of Hackney is clean, safe and accessible for all our residents, businesses and visitors. Our Streetscene team is responsible for the design and maintenance of all highway networks, footways, bridges and lighting on all public roads, contributing to the wellbeing of our community and creating a sustainable public realm. The Transport team is an award winning team that is a recognised leader in sustainable transport which is responsible for transport policy development, policy responses and implementing sustainable transport projects.
We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our Transport team. You will join an industry leading team with a track record of delivering innovative, and award winning, sustainable transport projects and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects. We are expanding the requirements of our Planning process that requires developers and contractors to meet specific safety standards for cyclist and vulnerable road users through the Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety standard (CLOCS). You will also be responsible for the implementation and monitoring and other freight related work projects such as consolidation and re-timing. In addition you will work alongside and assist our Principal Transport Planner responsible for public transport initiatives.
You will have good and effective communication and interpersonal skills and be proactive in adding value to the service delivered, in initiating, developing and implementing Best Value and providing customer-focused standards in regulatory environment.
You will have project management experience and leadership ability along with proficient IT skills. You will be responsible for developing and managing a monitoring and enforcement programme and have a good understanding of the latest safety equipment for large vehicles to ensure CLOCS standard is being met.
